Since 2018, I-TECH has supported the Ukraine Ministry of Health (MOH), through the MOH Public Health Center, in introducing and adopting WHO-recommended safe and effective antiretroviral therapy (ART) regimens.
I-TECH’s advocacy work and expertise laid the groundwork for adopting evidence-based approaches to HIV treatment and the application of the WHO HIV Clinical Guidelines in Ukraine. These have also helped to address the major barriers to rapid ART initiation, including those at policy, system, and health care worker levels. In 2018-2019, I-TECH improved linkages to care by promoting rapid ART initiation and facilitated the adaptation of the optimized ART regimens for the best patient outcomes at 39 state healthcare facilities providing HIV services.
