Needs Assessment: Systems

Clinical mentors in resource-constrained settings need to have a broad understanding of systems-level issues. This includes a programmatic understanding of how patient flow is structured, patient records are kept, protocols implemented at the facility, and a general understanding of how clinics are organised. To assist clinical mentors with this assessment, we have developed tools that focus on systems and facility-level issues. These systems-level tools will not need to be completed at each site visit. Some are appropriate for measuring change over time, and some are better for an initial assessment only.
