I-TECH has enhanced learning for partners in Zimbabwe through use of technologies such as tablet-based data collection and self-study modules. Through the use of self-study courses, nurses and primary counselors work through case scenarios in either PMTCT Client Retention or HIV Testing Services for Children and Adolescents. WhatsApp messaging groups have been used for peer-to-peer learning and support. Tablet-based data collection has become the norm for most sites.
Another innovation adopted in Zimbabwe is an open-source, web-based training data collection system known as TrainSMART, which allows users to accurately track data about training programs, trainers, facilities, and trainees. The TrainSMART program is housed at the MoHCC. I-TECH is also supporting the Ministry to build interoperability between TrainSMART and its human resources information systems (HRIS).
